Hong Kong summers can be excruciatingly hot and muggy – with scorching sun, oppressive humidity and torrential rainfall all at once – but there is an effective solution: take a dip in one of Hong Kong’s spectacular pools to beat the heat!
From lavish hotel pools to tranquil municipal ones, here are some of the best spots in which to cool off this summer.
1. Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong
One of the world’s most beautiful hotel pools (and indeed this entire region), Four Seasons’s stunning pool is sure to leave an indelible mark. Breathtaking by day, its true glory shines at night when Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island come alive with twinkling lights as you swim laps through this exquisite space.
2. The Hong Kong Swimming Pool at The Peninsula Hong Kong
This magnificent glass and marble pool will take your breath away! Take in panoramic cityscape views through floor-to-ceiling windows while lazing by its edge – or take in all that luxury, with water fountains, luxurious decor, opulent decor, clever LED ceiling screens depicting clouds – you won’t want to leave.
3. Mirage Hotel Hong Kong’s Infinity Pool
Everyone enjoys taking a dip in rooftop pools, but few rival the Mirage Hotel Hong Kong Infinity Pool when it comes to stunning views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island skylines. Plus, this is also an ideal spot for relaxation after dining at Red Sugar Lounge and Bar with craft beers, cocktails and wine available!
4. Kennedy Town Swimming Pool
This luxurious new Kennedy Town swimming pool is modern, stylish, and packed with loungers and water slides for children to enjoy. But that isn’t why we included it on our list – this stylish pool was constructed using MTR’s groundbreaking NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract, which they tested as part of this project to compare it with traditional contracts.
Angel Lau adjusts her iridescent blue goggles before walking up to the edge of the pool and diving head first into its waters. At 7 years old, Angel is among a lucky few – many young Hongkongers wait long periods before receiving public swimming lessons due to a city located along a coast where most residents don’t know how to swim according to water safety experts.
