Data Hk – Developing High-Quality Data Centres

Data hk provides free access to over one million open data sets from international, EU, and local sources. Users can access it either via web browser, desktop computer, mobile apps, or via other methods – with further guidance provided on how best to obtain and analyze these datasets.

Hong Kong is an ideal location for the development of high-tier data centres due to its advanced economy, robust IT infrastructure, thriving business community and strong legal protection of personal data. Furthermore, natural disaster risks are low here and so Hong Kong’s Government endorses their development as they serve as essential backbone for economic development in Hong Kong and further enhance competitiveness worldwide.

As Hong Kong faces increased demand for data centers, we must create more suitable sites for these facilities. This requires identifying suitable land locations and creating a comprehensive roadmap and timelines to complete this project while making necessary arrangements to facilitate its construction.

As part of our data protection laws’ ongoing effort, enhancing the definition of personal data remains a top priority. One proposed change would see more stringent requirements around collecting personal data for specific uses – for instance staff cards may contain data – including names, company names, photographs and employee numbers that fall within this definition and should only be collected and disclosed for these same uses under current PDPO laws.
